Lesson on geometry

Last year I was asked to be a part of this exciting new project for Shibui Knits yarn company, following the release of my Shibui Silk booklet.
Shibui Geometry is a collection of single printed leaflet patterns with a stunning visual and carefully selected palette.

A range of interesting garments is comprise of 8 patterns from different designers.

My design contribution is Hypotenuse.
Hypotenuse. The longest side of a right triangle, opposite the right angle.
This funky accessory with three dimensional texture can be styled in several looks. Loop style cowl is bouncy and is reminiscent of armor. The Staccato yarn used double contains silk that makes light reflect the highly textured surface. The construction is relatively simple, yet makes knitter polish their techniques and possibly learn a new one. Eye-catching yet dramatic way to exhibit your taste. Pairing it with your favorite tailored jacket or coat or to compliment your favorite layered outfit.

Now something special for all of you!

I am giving away a whole set of 8 patterns (1 of the pamphlets contains 2 patterns inside) for the whole Shibui Geometry collection!
And 3 copies of just Hypotenuse cowl to 4 lucky winners!

What do you need to do to enter:

Tell me in the comments below which is your favorite Shibui Knits yarn to work with!

And Join Olgajazzy designs group on Ravelry to increase your chances of winning!

Please leave your comment with your Ravelry ID or email or other way of contacting you.

Entries will be open till Tuesday, October 2, 11:59pm EST.
Thank you everyone for participating! Entries are now closed and winners will be announced later this week!

Good luck and Happy Knitting!!!

I haven’t yet had the pleasure of working with Shibui yarns and confess to serious envy issues whenever someone posts something they’ve made with it. Hope to try at least one of their yarns soon. And like all your patterns, this cowl pattern is lovely! My Rav name is Gaile (and I thought I had joined your group but apparently not, so I have now). Thank you for this lovely giveaway btw, and Happy Fall to you!

I have only had the pleasure of knitting an entire project from Staccato, which I absolutely loved! I played around with Silk Cloud a bit too, and it was heavenly! It was just so smooth for a fuzzy yarn, and so strong for looking so delicate. If I had to pick a favorite of the two, I’d say Silk Cloud 🙂

I was surprised when I found out all the patterns have to be purchased separately.

I don’t have any Shibui yarn. Too hard to choose just one; they all look so nice.
If I could try one, I’d pick Staccato because I barely have any merino silk in my stash right now.

I’ve already tried the Shibui cloud and Shibui baby alpaca, such soft yarns, I really love them!!
I have your shibui silk pattern book and I’m dreaming to be able to try Shibui Heichi yarn with Shibui cloud in order to do “Arnett” but those yarns are very expensive here in France, so I’ll wait a little in order to be able to spare some money for it!

I think my favorite has to be the Shibui Baby Alpaca because it is just so scrumptuous! But I’m currently knitting Olga’s clever Sakasama Jacket in Shibui linen which creates a great fabric because of its chain construction (perfect for the warm climate in Atlanta where I live). All the Shibui yarns come in terrific colors as well.

I really like Silk Cloud. I have used it in several projects now and I found it to be a very versatile silk/mohair yarn. It works great by itself to create light but warm accessories and when held together with other yarns it creates a soft halo around the FO.
